Quote from a happy customer
Hi I'm Alan J Marshall a Property Developer/Farmer who loves cattle and so after some time running a commercial herd trying different types, my son George and I established KARAKARA Stud at Lowden (Donnybrook) Western Australia in 2004.
George and I take this very seriously and have great enthusiasm for the Murray Grey breed. Originally a sheep farmer when George was a baby I tired of the wool turmoil and turned my sights to Cattle and in particular Murray Greys.
It was their temperament and carcass qualities that drew me in; I had always loved the Greys' temperament and first began breeding Greys commercially. As George grew he had a natural interest in cattle until one day a bull kicked him through the race, George was on the outside and the young bull on the inside shot his hind leg out between the bars of the race and got George in the leg.
At that point George lost interest for about a year and I decided to cull any cattle that looked at anyone sideways and we have stayed with this as our first priority and George returned to the cattle with gusto.
Having now attended two Perth Royals with great success George and I will continue, time permitting, with our breeding program.
With our debut at the Perth Royal in 2004, our very promising bull, Hollywood Dunedin took out Reserve Senior Champion Bull.
Interesting to note was that Dunedin was 7 months younger than his rivals and hence 200 kg lighter. We will return to the Royal again this year with another younger Bull.
He'll definitely be one to watch out for!
Neither motorbikes nor dogs are used with our cattle. We call them!!
Our best wishes and hopes to you for a great and profitable season
